The mission of the Assessor's Office is to estimate the fair market value of all real estate, personal property, and motor vehicles, to establish the fair and equitable levy of local property tax. Property is assessed in each town as of the October 1st assessment date. The town implemented a revaluation for the October 1, 2019 Grand List. The most recent revaluation was completed in Fall 2024.

The Assessor's Office duties include:

  • Discover, list, and value all property within the Town of Bloomfield. The three classes of property are real estate, business and personal property, and motor vehicles. All property is taxed at 70% of its fair market value.
  • Provide data to a wide variety of internal and external customers
  • Administer a variety of tax relief programs for the elderly homeowner, veterans, totally disabled and the blind who meet certain requirements.
