Overview
It is best practice in the municipal government public sector to review the Town Charter every 10 years. The last revision of the Bloomfield Town Charter was 2006.
A five member Charter Revision Commission has been established composed of three members of the Democratic party, 1 Republican and 1 Unaffiliated residents, is instructed to consider such revisions to the Bloomfield Town Charter as they deem appropriate and to submit a draft final report of their recommendations to the Town Council within 16 months of the date of appointment of members to the Bloomfield Charter Revision Commission.
The Commission is charged with undertaking a thorough review of the current Town Charter and all aspects of the structure of Town Government, being mindful of adhering to, among others, principles of sustainability and that it is equitable for and inclusive of all our citizens, and further, shall draft any Charter amendments relative to the operation of the Town and effective representation of the people of this Town.
