Planning & Zoning
The mission of the Planning & Zoning Department is to enhance the orderly development of the Town and to maintain the quality of the residential neighborhoods and business districts. This mission is accomplished through proper short- and long-range planning and the effective development, administration and enforcement of regulations that encourage intelligent, quality growth and redevelopment, and protect the Town from over-development. The mission is carried out by a service-oriented staff that provides active and consistent enforcement in a fair and equitable manner in order to maintain property values.
The Planning & Zoning Department staff implements the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) through zoning regulations adopted by the Bloomfield Plan and Zoning Commission. Staff also process applications and permits for the Plan and Zoning Commission, the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, and the Zoning Board of Appeals. In addition, this office is responsible for enforcing the Zoning Regulations and other ordinances adopted by the Town Council.
