PLEASE READ: Town of Bloomfield - New Executive Order, Effective August 19, 2021 at 12 P.M.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT BEING NECESSARY FOR THE PURPOSE OF MITIGATING A MAJOR EMERGENCY,

I, Philip K. Schenck, Jr. Interim Town Manager of the Town of Bloomfield, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Town Charter and state and federal law, do hereby ORDER AND DIRECT:

  1. Any person in an indoor public place in Bloomfield who does not maintain a safe social distance of approximately six feet from every other person shall cover their mouth and nose with a mask or cloth face-covering, provided that nothing in this order shall require the use of a mask or cloth face covering by anyone exempt from such requirement under sections 1a or 1c of Executive Order No.13A issued by Governor Ned Lamont.  This order shall not apply to any residential dwelling.
  2. Pursuant to Executive Order No. 13A issued by Governor Lamont,
    1. Any person who fails to wear a mask or cloth-face covering as required herein, other than a person who qualifies for exemption, shall be guilty of a violation and fined one hundred dollars. An employer, rather than the employee, is liable for the fine for any employee's failure to wear a required mask or cloth-face covering while at work.
    2. In any case in which a person is charged with a violation pursuant to this Order, the procedures set forth in Section 51-164n through 5l- 164r of the Connecticut General Statutes shall apply. Nothing in this Section shall be construed to limit, alter, modify, or suspend any penalties or remedies that otherwise apply to the violation of order issued pursuant to the civil preparedness and public health emergencies.
