  1. Crafty Gifts on a Budget (Virtual BPL Program)

    December 12, 2023, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Need a thoughtful gift but don’t want to break the bank? We’ve got you covered! Join Bloomfield Public Library for a virtual demonstration of some different craft ideas that can be given as gifts or kept for yourself! We will provide supplies for a simple but cute candy cane mouse that can be used as an ornament or a holiday decoration. Kits will be available for pickup at the Atrium on December 5 (while supplies last). We will also show you how to decorate a flower pot that you can fill with candy, make a trivet out of clothespins, and create a snowman decoration out of items easily found at discount stores.

  2. Talewise presents "Science Heroes Break the Ice!" (BPL Program)

    December 16, 2023, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
    @
Community Center - Alvin & Beatrice Wood Human Services Center

Science and stories collide in this interactive S.T.E.M. program featuring the ‘coolest’ thing in science — DRY ICE! Join us on an adventure about Professor Noble and the Science Heroes, who try to thwart an icy-hearted villain from freezing the entire planet! The audience helps the performer act out the tale as we use the events in the story to discover and explore dry ice and the changing states of matter. Volunteers help conduct each experiment as the whole audience gets involved in changing variables and making predictions! We’ll even bring some of the dry ice experiments out into the crowd for everyone to experience! Best for ages 5-12, but fun for the whole family! Registration is recommended.

  3. Heartstopper Fan Party (BPL Teen program at The Atrium)

    December 19, 2023, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Are you a fan of Heartstopper: the online web comic, graphic novels, novellas, or Netflix TV show? To celebrate Volume 5's book release, join us at this fan party! The book publisher, Scholastic Graphix, provided us with free swag to give away, we'll eat snacks, and talk about our favorite parts of the book (no TV show spoilers, please). Limited space available. Open to students in grades 7-12. There are several ways to read Heartstopper: online via the author, print graphic novels to pick up at The Atrium, or use free library apps Hoopla and Libby. If you cannot make it to the live event email Sara Ray to request a fan party pack to pick up at The Atrium during open hours (available for teens and adults).
